It appears that Matt Laug, a devoted AC/DC fan and former drummer for Alice Cooper and Slash’s Snakepit, will be taking up the drumming duties when the Australian rock legends headline Power Trip.

AC/DC has shared a brief audio snippet of the band rehearsing for the upcoming Power Trip festival in California, and it’s noteworthy that Phil Rudd is not on the drum kit.
The band’s statement reads, “PWR UP for Power Trip!” as they invite fans to listen to the rehearsal featuring Cliff Williams, who’s coming out of retirement for the festival, and Matt Laug on drums.
Matt Laug, renowned as the drummer for The Dirty Knobs, a band formed by former Tom Petty sideman Mike Campbell, boasts an impressive resume, having played with notable artists such as Alice Cooper, Slash’s Snakepit, Alanis Morissette (including her multi-million-selling album “Jagged Little Pill”), and contributing to Beth Hart’s Tribute To Led Zeppelin album.
Matt Laug’s evident enthusiasm for AC/DC shines through in his social media activity. He annually marks the birthdays of Angus Young and Bon Scott on his Facebook page, displaying his dedicated fan status. Additionally, he’s shown support for Phil Rudd, celebrating when charges against the drummer were dropped in 2014 with an enthusiastic “F**KING AWESOME NEWS!” He also shared a picture of a ‘Play Drums With The Best Of AC/DC’ CD set in 2018, accompanied by the message “My pocket troubles are over!” and the hashtags #philrudd and #goat, further emphasizing his admiration for Rudd.
